Blues
Sweepstakes helps restaurants build
opt-in email list
DECEMBER 10, 2002 -- MarketVolt, a leading provider
of email marketing software, has partnered
with St. Louis Area Taco Bell and the St. Louis Blues
hockey club to create the "Taco Ticker Turner" sweepstakes.
Prior to every Blues home game, a lucky fan will be
selected to receive two free tickets to the game, where
that fan
and a friend will serve as the "Taco Ticker Turner" for
the night. Contestants enter the sweepstakes online --
at www.5for35.com --
on a page designed, built and hosted by MarketVolt.
The Taco Ticker is the brand new sign
at the Savvis Center that keeps track of how many goals
the Blues have scored in the game. Each time the Blues
score, the Taco Ticker Turner turns one of the bells
on the Ticker to reveal the total number of goals the
Blues have scored. If the Taco Ticker Turner turns all
five bells, that means that Blues have scored five goals.
And that means 35-cent tacos, under Taco Bell's 5 for
35 program.
During the Blues' regular season (and playoffs, if applicable),
if the Blues score five or more goals in a game, Blues
fans can visit a participating St. Louis area Taco Bell
restaurant the following day and receive tacos for only
$.35 each plus tax. The offer is good for crunchy shell
beef tacos with a limit of 20 per order. So remember
to visit your favorite Taco Bell location and ask for
the "5 for 35" special to take advantage of
this great offer.
St. Louis Area Taco Bells will use the MarketVolt software
to promote the 5 for 35 program, announce sweepstakes
winners, and announce new products and promotions at
their restaurants. The online signup page on which
contestants sign up for the sweepstakes gives them the
opportunity to opt-in to Taco Bell's email mailing list.
MarketVolt consultants have assisted Taco Bell and the
Blues in strategy, design and execution of the Taco Ticker
Turner sweepstakes. Since launching the program last month,
Taco Bell has significantly grown its list of customers
who have opted-in to receive email promotions.
"This is a great list-building and customer acquisition
program for Taco Bell," said MarketVolt's Tom Ruwitch.
"St. Louis Area Taco Bells understand that customers
will share information -- such as an email address --
with businesses if the businesses offer something of
value in return. In this case, the opportunity to win
Blues' tickets and the chance to receive discounts and
other promotional information via email is something
many Blues fans value."
